SUSPECTED FRAUD REGARDING THE DEALER PETER FECH

“The fraud scandal surrounding the Gerbrunn stamp dealer Peter Fech continues. The well-known dealer has been under suspicion for many years, in particular regarding the large-scale distribution of forged or faked stamps at fairs in Germany.” With this announcement, the Federal “BUND FORUM” (www.bund-forum.de) informs its readers about a criminal investigation in Würzburg.

We advise all collectors who purchased stamps with BPP expertising marks from the accused to submit them for checking by the appropriate BPP expertisers.

Large crowds at the booth of the BPP in Munich

The stamp fair in Munich from 6 to 8 March 2014 offered many interested people the opportunity at the BPP expertisers’ stand to obtain information and advice on all matters concerning expertising. A total of ten (!) expertisers and were kept very busy.

Franz Stegmüller recorded no fewer than 236 consultations over the three days. “Both collectors and dealers come to us with a wide variety of questions and requests. You can see that many interested people made careful preparations for this beforehand.” BPP chief Christian Geigle, who this year was not at the stand, added: “There is no substitute for the personal contact between the visitors and the BPP expertisers. For many, a visit to the expertisers’ stand was an integral part of their day.”

Offering services free of charge were: Peter Darmietzel, Dr Gertlieb Gmach, Arnold Goller, Claus Heitmann, Roland Pieles, Johann Ulrich Schmitt, Peter Sem, Rüdiger Soecknick, Franz Sangani and Dieter Weinbuch. A “thank you” to them all.

A two-year suspension in INFLA expertisation by Dr Oechsner

Due to the large number of items sent for expertisation and the resulting overload of his inspection office, Dr Oechsner has no option but to suspend inflation expertisation (German Reich Michel Nos. 98 – 337, Officials 16 – 98, as well as official control overprints) for a period of two years from 1 January 2014.

We request, with immediate effect, that no more stamps and covers of the inflation period are sent for expertising. The items from the mentioned areas that Dr Oechsner already has for expertising will be dealt with.

For INFLA expertisation please contact the BPP expertisers Bauer, Fleiner, Meyer, Tworek, Weinbuch or Winkler.

The other expertising areas of Dr Oechsner (German Reich 1900-18 and 1924-45 as well as Danzig) will be continued by him.
